Why your files live in your own account

Most tools for delivering photographs hold the photographs. ArchiveSend does not, and that is the whole design rather than a feature we added.

What we actually hold

Your storage keys, encrypted, so we can sign a link when you or your client asks for one. Alongside that we keep the ordinary business records: who your clients are, what you agreed, what you invoiced, which files are in which delivery, and who downloaded what.

We do not hold your photographs. Not a copy, not a backup of our own, nothing to train anything on. When you upload, the file goes from your computer to your storage. When your client downloads, it comes out of your storage to them. Neither passes through us.

How to check that for yourself

This is a claim you can verify rather than one you have to believe. Open your storage console and look for yourself: everything is there, under your billing, in a folder called archivesend. Revoke the key you gave us and we immediately cannot read any of it.

What happens if you leave

Closing your account deletes our records. It does not touch your storage. Your files stay exactly where they are, because they were never ours to delete, and you do not need us to get at them.

You can also take the records with you at any time from Your data.

What this costs you

Honesty about the trade: you pay your storage provider directly, and you have to set an account up once. Storage of this kind runs a few dollars per terabyte per month, and usually works out cheaper than a plan that bundles it. What you get for the setup is that nobody can put your archive behind a new pricing tier.
